Formula for winning the lottery |
Teachers and officers of a British university have developed a formula for winning the lottery and they got it, proving that the "luck factor" can be reduced. After 8 years of playing together without success, 17 participants from Bradford University and College – including some mathematicians - withdrew their birthdays and lucky numbers and invested in a new method that uses 49 numbers. And straight after that, they win a lottery jackpot prize of 5.3 million pounds equivalent to 7.9 million Euros.
The system they developed basically consists of:
The 49 numbers are written on pieces of paper and placed in a box. Eight members of the group pick 6 numbers each, leaving an extra number in the box. The next group member uses this number to start a new line of 6 numbers with other numbers, which are inserted back into the box.
Finally, each number is at least 2 times in 17 lines and 4 numbers appear 3 times, and the sequences bet.
It may seem a little confusing, and that is more coincidence than mathematical thinking. It also seems that the perfect system for the early win hasn't been discovered yet. And to tell you the truth, I do not think it exists at all.
The same, there are several advices every one can adopt to at least increase the chances of winning the lottery. These advices are simple and have to do with our everyday life. The first and most important is to play the lottery and buy tickets every week, and not in a sporadic way. They don't have to be tickets for the same lottery always but the persistence here is important.
Besides, try your lucky numbers all the time, don't change all your choices in every ticket. Since probability has almost nothing to do with lotteries there are similar chances for same or different numbers to be the winning ones in within a short term.
And the most important, believe yourself a lucky man and you will increase your chances! |
